A further quartet of persons were taken into custody within the framework of the continuing probe into the previous robbery of precious jewelry at the famous Paris museum, according to the French judicial authorities.

Particulars of the Most Recent Detentions

A pair of males, aged 38 and 39, and two female individuals, in their early thirties and forties, faced apprehension earlier this week. They all reside in the Île-de-France region.

Among them is believed to be the remaining individual of a four-man gang that reportedly executed the daytime theft, per French media. The remaining trio alleged robbers are already in custody and formally accused, according to officials.

Law enforcement has been granted as much as 96 hours to question them. Not a single clue has to date been discovered of the pilfered gems - valued at 88 million euros (76 million pounds; 102 million dollars) - which disappeared on the nineteenth of October.

Previous Accusations and Rejections

Four people have already been indicted in relation to the robbery - a trio of males and one female, who similarly reside within the Parisian area.

A 38-year-old woman was indicted in recent weeks with complicity in organised theft and criminal conspiracy intended to carry out unlawful acts.

In a distinct case, a man, aged 37, was charged with stealing and conspiratorial activities.

Both of these individuals, who have not been named publicly, have rejected all accusations.

The Way the Theft Took Place

The robbery occurred when the quartet of male perpetrators employed a hijacked vehicle with a mounted lift to breach the Apollo Gallery via a balcony near the Seine River.

The men used a cutting disc to break into display cases which held the precious items.

The perpetrators stayed inside for just 240 seconds and fled the scene on two scooters waiting outside at 9:38 AM, before switching to cars.

One taken artifact - an imperial crown - was fallen in the flight but eight other items of jewellery - featuring an emerald and diamond necklace that Emperor Napoleon presented to his empress, the Empress Marie-Louise - were stolen.

Safeguarding Shortcomings and Consequences

Authorities have indicated that the heist was carried out by small-time offenders instead of experienced crime syndicates.

Soon following the robbery, it was announced by the Louvre leadership that the only camera watching the Apollo Gallery was directed away from the balcony scaled by the robbers to commit the burglary.

The president of the Louvre has later confessed that the establishment had not fulfilled in its obligations, but disputed allegations of security being ignored - saying that from the time she took office in the year 2021 she had been consistently alerting of the requirement for additional resources.

Improved Safeguarding Protocols

In the wake of the robbery, protective protocols have been enhanced at France's cultural institutions.

The museum has moved a selection of its most valuable gems to the national bank following the heist.
