Zambia's Daka Nets Late Goal to Earn Zambia Against Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Zambia's striker heads home late

The Leicester City forward brought to a close a 20-month goal barren run for Zambia with his last-gasp header in Morocco.

Zambia's star striker proved to be the hero for Chipolopolo as his stoppage-time header secured a nail-biting 1-1 share of the points against Mali at the Afcon 2025 in Casablanca.

Eagles Seize First-Half Initiative

The Malian attacker had broken the deadlock around the 60-minute mark in the Group A fixture at the Stade Mohammed V, firing in from point-blank range after his initial attempt from a corner kick had been deflected.

Mali dictated the play and had an opportunity to take the lead in the final moments of the opening period after a Malian forward was fouled in the box by Zambian defender Matthews Banda.

The designated penalty taker took responsibility for the Eagles but his powerful strike was superbly saved by Zambia shot-stopper Willard Mwanza.

The Striker's Dramatic Header

The Leicester City man later rescued a point for the former champions, who were for the most part dominated by the robust play of their opponents until Banda's lofted cross was powered home by the attacker.

Group A Standings

The result means both sides a couple of points behind tournament hosts the Atlas Lions in the group standings after Morocco won their first match 2-0 against the Coelacanths on Sunday.

Zambia will stay in the city to play their second fixture against Comoros on Friday, while The Eagles journey to the capital for a crunch showdown against the host nation.
